Nutrition and Inflammatory Markers in Chronic Pancreatitis

August 2, 2022

Dr. Sandhu  recently published an academic article in the Nutrition Clinical Practice Volume 34 Number 3, called Nutrition in Clinical Practice. The article discusses Nutrition and Inflammatory Markers in Chronic Pancreatitis. To date, there have been a limited number of published investigations of malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies in Chronic Pancreatitis.

By comparing micronutrient antioxidant, bone metabolism, serum protein and inflammatory market levels of CP Patients and in those with no known disease, Dr. Sandhu and the pancreatic study team was able to analyze and evaluate biomarkers among both groups of individuals. The experiment led to the conclusion that CP Patients demonstrated lower levels of selected nutrition and bone metabolism biomarkers than the control group. It also found that while diabetes and alcohol did not impact the nutrition and inflammatory markers, vitamin supplements and pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy improved the biomarkers in CP patients. Read the  recently published article  to learn more about this clinical research.
